The Trade Union action carried out by the Container workers of Colombo Port since last night still continues.
Container drivers launched the strike last night complaining that they were inconvenienced while transporting containers from the Port to Customs due to traffic blocks at Ingurukade junction.
A discussion regarding the issue was held with the Minister of Ports Rohitha Abeygunawardena this morning.
Later speaking during a media briefing the Minister stated that following the meeting, the container drivers have agreed to call off the trade union action.
However, the container drivers stated that the written agreement given to them following the meeting was not given by a responsible individual.
