6 accomplices of Malaka Silva remanded for assaulting a foreign couple 2 MSD officers among them
The Colombo Crime Division arrested 6 persons who accompanied Minister Mervyn Silva's son Malaka Silva, for assaulting a foreign couple at a night club and they have been remanded until tomorrow.
They were remanded after being produced before Colombo Additional Magistrate Mohammed Sahabdeen this evening, who ordered them to be produced for an identification parade tomorrow during tomorrow’s court hearing.
The suspects include a police sergeant and a constable attached to Minister Mervin Silva’s security division under the Ministerial Security Division.
Initial investigations have revealed that these two suspects have provided security to Malaka Silva on the day of the incident.
The other 4 suspects include a person who runs a salon, businessman, chef and a personal body guard of Malaka Silva.
They are residents of Kelaniya, Pannipitiya, Kurunegala and Rajagiriya areas.
Malaka Silva, who is currently remanded, is to be produced for the identification parade tomorrow.
The incident of assaulting a Scottish tourist and his English girlfriend at a night club was reported on the 31st of October.
