JHU representatives Patali Champika Ranawaka and Udaya Gammanpila resigned from their Ministerial portfolios of the UPFA government today.

This was revealed during a media briefing convened by the party in Colombo today.

JHU chairman Venerable Athuraliye Rathana Thera stated that they will not support the current President during the upcoming Presidential election.

He further said that they did not resign from the Ministerial portfolios to inconvenience the president.

However, leader of the party Venerable Omalpe Sobhitha Thera requested the President and the government not to consider the party decision as a challenge declared by an enemy force.
