President talks about Presidential election.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa has completed his fourth year in office under the second term today.
He was elected to parliament from Beliatta electorate for the first time in 1970.
Later, he was sworn in as the 5th Executive President of Sri Lanka on November 19th, 2005.
He launched the humanitarian operation in 2006, and within two and half years, his government was able to eliminate LTTE terrorism from the country.
In 2010, he called an early presidential election two years ahead of the scheduled time, and secured a victory of 57.88% and sworn in as the President again for another six years.
President Rajapaksa expects to contest for a third term under the 18th Amendment to the Constitution.
