A British national who remained in the country for 24 years without visa was ordered to pay a fine of 50 thousand rupees and serve 1 month prison sentence by Bandarawela Magistrate Jeyaram Trotsky yesterday.

The magistrate further ordered Badulla Prison Superintendent to hand over the British national to Mirihana illegal migrants’ detention camp after completing his sentence.

Police inquiries have revealed that the British national named, Richard David, has remained illegally in Badulla.
