We would welcome back the ones who left us - says Minister Basil Rajapaksa opening the Presidential Election Operations Office in Kollonnawa
Minister Basil Rajapakse extended an invitation to the group that quit the government to rejoin the government.
He made this statement while inaugurating the Kollonnawa Presidential election coordinating office.
Kollonnawa electorate, Presidential election coordinating office was declared open today in Saala-mulla under the patronage of Minister Basil Rajapakse.
Colombo District Parliamentarian R Duminda Silva and a group were present to welcome the Minister.
On this occasion a group of UNP supporters obtained the membership of the SLFP.
Minister Basil Rajapakse addressing the gathering expressed the following views.
“This is the first office I’m inaugurating especially after the honourable President’s official statement regarding the elections. This has been a game of musical chairs when deciding on who would take this seat. As we suspected, no one took the seat. They knew that they would share the same fate as of Sarath Fonseka. They tried to force the seat on others but failed to do so. But at last, they found one of us to use as the scapegoat. They have nothing but hatred which is there since 2007. But we sympathize with them and we invite them to come back again.
We know that some of them left against their will. They can come back and work again with us for the protection of our countrymen”
Colombo District Parliamentarian R Duminda Silva also addressed the gathering and stated that President Mahinda Rajapaksa has rendered a yeoman service to the country and he will become the President yet again.
