The 2015 budget was passed with 95 majority votes in parliament this afternoon.

152 MPs voted for the budget 2015 while 57 MPs voted against.

UPFA Coalitions Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, National Freedom Front, Mahajana Eksath Peramuna, Lanka Samasamaja Party and Communist Party MPs voted for the budget while UNP, JVP, TNA and Democratic Party MPs voted against.

JHU parliamentarians were absent in parliament chambers when the vote was held.

Meanwhile former Minister Maithreepala Sirisena who left the government and became the common presidential candidate and former Ministers Rajitha Senarathna and Duminda Dissanayake, and former deputy minister M.K.D.S. Gunawardana and MP Rajiva Wijesinghe also did not participate in the vote taking today.

Independent MPs Arjuna Ranatunga and Wasantha Senanayake who resigned from the government recently were also absent in parliament at the time of the vote taking.
