Tense situation at Hulsdroph as an individual protest against Minister Mervin.
A tense situation erupted at the Colombo Magistrate Court premises this morning as an individual protested against Minister Mervin Silva when he left the court complex after sighting the hearing of his son Malaka Silva’s case.
The identification parade with regard to the assault on a foreign couple was scheduled for this morning but Colombo Additional Magistrate Mohammad Sahabdeen adjourned the identification parade till 1 in the afternoon as witnesses were absent at that moment.
When journalists questioned Minister Silva whether there is any truth in the rumors of his defection, he said that he would not defect.
He also said he would remain with President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
At that moment, a person who arrived near Minister Silva said that he was also treated unfairly and protested against the minister’s statement.
Later a tense situation erupted when the minister’s security guards attempted to apprehend the protestor.
However the protestor managed to duck the security and left the scene in his vehicle.
