The police has identified that the person who protested against Minister Mervyn Silva in front of the Colombo additional Magistrate’s Court was a son of a UNP Divisional council politician.
Police media spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that the person concerned was a resident of Kelaniya.
A tense situation erupted at the Colombo Magistrate Court premises yesterday as an individual protested against Minister Mervin Silva when he left the court complex after attending the hearing of his son Malaka Silva’s case.
When journalists questioned Minister Silva whether there is any truth in the rumors of his defection, he said that he would not defect.
He also said he would remain with President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
At that moment, a person who arrived near Minister Silva said that he was also treated unfairly and protested against the minister’s statement.
Later a tense situation erupted when the minister’s security guards attempted to apprehend the protestor.
