Discussions of Common Candidate of the left collapse.
United Socialist party stated today that the discussions held regarding appointing a common candidate from the leftist faction failed.
General Secretary of the party Siritunga Jayasuriya stated this while addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today.
Raja Usweta-keiyawa, who acts on behalf of the alternative group which defected from Sri Lanka Communist party, also joined the discussion regarding the common candidate of the Leftist movement.
Meanwhile, the New Leftist Front General Secretary Doctor Wickramabahu Karunaratne stated that he will support the common candidate Maithreepala Sirisena.
Jathika Hela Urumaya said that they will discuss and decide regarding the measures to be taken during the upcoming presidential election.
Speaking to our news team, the party’s deputy leader and former Provincial Minister Udaya Gammanpila said they will be less likely to support President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
