The wild elephant which killed two persons in the Sacred City of Anuradhapura this morning has been tightened to a tree after it was tranquilized.

Wildlife Director General H.D. Rathnayake said steps will be taken to release the elephant to a national park after its health condition is checked.

Meanwhile our correspondent reported that a team of wild life officers have launched an operation to drive away another wild tusker roaming in the Track 5 area of Galgamuwa.

At the same time, police said residents of Nelum-wewa in Karuwalagas-wewa have driven away another herd of wild elephants after the animals destroyed some property in the area last night.
