Common candidate Maithripala’s election manifesto to be launched this week.
Common candidate Maithreepala Sirisena arrived at the UNP headquarters Sirikotha today to a rousing welcome by large crowds.
UNP National Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, party MPs, members representing Provincial and local government institutions and electoral organizers joined the reception.
It was significant that Vanni district UPFA MP Hunaiz Farook from All Ceylon People’s Congress led by Minister Rishard Badiudeen joining the UNP during this meeting.
Addressing the gathering UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake said that he would never quit the party.
Defected former Minister Rajitha Senarathna described the government’s incapability to identify the common candidate at the outset.
Meanwhile, addressing the meeting, common candidate Maithreepala Sirisena said his election manifesto which is to be released this week would convince people of his future vision for the country.
