Since the Rajaanganaya reservoir and the Daeduru Oya Scheme sluice gates have been opened, the Puttalam Disaster Management Unit has informed that entry into the Kala Oya and Daeduru Oya should be avoided and that the surrounding residents should be on the alert.

While four feet of each of eight sluice gates of the Daeduru Oya Scheme was opened by this dawn, its water will be released to the Daeduru Oya.

The Disaster Management Centre Deputy Director Pradeep Kodipillai said that while 12 sluice gates of the Raajaangana Reservoir have been opened there was a danger of inundation of several areas as a result of this.

The meteorology department states that Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, North-central, Eastern, Uva and Central provinces..

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

Duty Meteorologist Buddhika Bandulal request the General public to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning activities.
