Water levels increase in several tanks: No water issues during Maha season - says Irrigation Department

The Irrigation Department states that the water level of reservoirs have increased up to 55 percent due to the prevailing rains.

The Department’s Director General Badra Kamaladasa told our news team that due to this reason they can release water for Maha season with no interruptions.

Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Centre states that 9442 persons from 2464 families in Kurunegala, Kegalle and Puttalam districts have been further affected by the adverse weather condition.  

The Met Department also stated that showers are expected island wide this evening.
