Minister Navin Dissanayake resigns from government to support common candidate
Navin Dissanayake has resigned from his Ministerial posts and the UPFA District organizer position of Nuwara-eliya.
He held the post of Minister of State Administration and Reforms and was the organizer for Nuwara-eliya.
Navin Dissanayake has therefore decided to support Common Opposition Candidate Maitreepala Sirisena in the forthcoming Presidential Election.
He said has sent his letter of resignation which focused on 3 points, to the President last night.
In the letter Navin Dissanayake said that being unable to serve the rural communities in Nuwara-eliya as a Minister of the district, abolishing of the executive presidency and not being able to bear the corruption taking place in development work.
Navin Dissanayaka in his letter had thanks the President in the attempts made to eradicate terrorism and also said that he had no personal grudge with the President.
Following the announcement of the Common Candidate 10 Ministers or Parliamentarians of the government have defected to support common candidate Maithripala Sirisena.
