The Mohammad Siyam murder case first witness of the Plaint told in the Colombo High Court today that Vass Gunawardana stated he was in charge of the ‘White Van Fright’.

The witness revealed this when the Bambalapitiya business tycoon Mohammad Siyam murder case was taken for hearing before a bench of three high court judges today.

Six suspects including former DIG Vass Gunawardana and his son Ravindu Gunawardana have been charged for the abduction and murder of millionaire business tycoon Mohammad Siyam.

The bench comprised today of High Court judges Lalith Jayasuriya, Liyon Seneviratne and Aamendra Seneviratne.

First witness of the Plaint businessman Mohammad Fowzdeen testifying himself under the instruction of Deputy Solicitor General Ayesha Jinasena said that he invested nearly 50 million rupees with deceased Mohammad Siyam.

He said the latter had a shoe manufacturing company as well.

The witness said that he received dividends for his investment regularly but later he was suspicious whether his money had been given to wrong hands as dividends were defaulted time to time.

The witness said later he was introduced to Vass Gunawardana by a fellow businessman called Krishantha Koralage.

The witness said that he had lengthy discussions on the matter with former DIG Vass Gunawardana over the none payment of his dividends.

The witness further said when he enquired Gunawardana whether anybody would complain to police, former DIG Vass Gunawardana assured him that such a thing would not happen as he was in charge of the White Van Fright.

The witness identified Vass Gunawardana, Ravindu Gunawardana and two other policemen during the hearing of the case today.

The court allowed the Attorney General’s request to further remand Vass Gunawardana and 4 other policemen for another 3 months.

The further testifying of the witness will being at 11.30 tomorrow morning.
