Eastern PC tense over the demand for a expenditure head vote. -Video
A tense situation cropped up yesterday between the Government party and the opposition councilors of the Eastern Provincial Council which is under UPFA majority.
Beginning the debate of the 2015 budget relevant to Eastern Provincial Council yesterday the expenditure head relevant to the Chief Minister was taken up for debate.
Provincial Council chairperson Ariyavathi Galappatti had adjourned the debate although a vote was scheduled to be taken at about 7 p.m. at the end of the debate,
That was because there was a smaller number of Government Councillors than that of the opposition in the chamber of the council at that time.
Opposition councilors including Opposition Leader C. Thandaayuda Paani protested against the adjournment.
