Nine political parties and an independent group have deposited cash bonds for the forthcoming Presidential election.
UPFA General Secretary Minister Susil Premajayantha deposited bonds for President Mahinda Rajapaksa last Monday while New Democratic Front deposited bonds for common candidate Maithreepala Sirisena.
In addition, M.B. Thamini-mulla from Okkoma Vesiyo Okkoma Rajavaru organization, Panee Wijewardana from Samaja-vadi Samanatha party and Siritunga Jayasuriya from United Socialist party have deposited bonds.
Dr. Naath Amarakoon from Eksath Lanka Maha Sabha party, Wimal Geeganage from Sri Lanka Jathika Peramuna, Janasetha Peramuna, and independent candidate I.M. Ilyaz also deposited bonds.
The United Peace Front presidential candidate M.I.M. Nizlar also deposited bonds this morning.
Meanwhile, calling applications from government servants for postal voting for the Presidential election will close tomorrow.
Additional Election Commissioner U. Amaradasa said the closing date will not be extended.
Meanwhile postal voting will be held on December 23rd and 24th and those who failed to vote on those two days can do so on December 30th at District Secretariats.
