A Facebook video which became the root cause for two youths to be assaulted was reported to our news team.

The relatives of the victims charged that Divulapitiya Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Indika Anuruddha has assaulted the two youths.

The relatives said a group of unknown persons who arrived in a vehicle belonged to Divulapitiya Pradeshiya Sabha has attempted to put up a billboard portraying the President in front of their house at Udugodagedara.

At that time, a house member has protested against the attempt, and it was videoed by the unknown group before they left the place.

Later the particular video has been released to the Face book.

Taking a new turn of the incident early in the morning today, another group of unknown persons visited the house of the person who protested against the attempt to put up the billboard.

When the mother of the protester Kamani Siriwardana informed the strangers that her son was not at home, they left the house.

At that time, two of Kamani Siriwardana’s nephews who saw a vehicle near her house in the wee hours, have rushed to the scene.

23-year old Gayashan Sampath and 27-year old Chanaka Sugath were assaulted in the incident.

Gayashan Sampath is still receiving treatment at Dambadeniya hospital.

When our news team contacted UPFA ruling Divulapitiya PS Chairman Indika Anuruddha rejected the allegations made against him.

However Divulapitiya police have initiated investigation into the assault incident.

Police Media Spokesman office stated statements from the victims as well as the house owners have already been made.
