Traffic at Ward Place hindered by HNDA Students
The protest march commenced by the Inter Higher National Diploma in Accountancy Conservation Students' Unity this afternoon, in front of Fort Railway station, has reached the University Grants Commission a short while ago.
They are protesting against the higher education authorities for canceling the degree equivalence previously given to the HNDA course.
The students who arrived at Maradana passing the Technical Junction, proceeded along Baddegama Wimalawansa Nahimi Mawatha and arrived in front of the UGC at Ward Place.
The traffic at Ward Place has been hindered due to the protesters sitting on the street.
Police stated that 6 among them will be offered an opportunity to speak to the officials of the UGC. However, the students have insisted upon allowing the media to join their discussion.
According to our correspondent, Police allowed 6 student representatives and the media personnel to enter the UGC premises.
