Air force media spokesperson, Wing Commander Gihan Senevirathna stated a decision will be taken to send the black box of the crashed AN- 32 , after receiving the report of the investigation board.

An investigation board was appointed according to the instructions of Air force commander, headed by Air Commodore Ravi Jayasingha.

A 3 hour operation was performed on Airman L.A.C. Chaturanga who survived in the AN-32 plane crash at Hokandara yesterday.

Colombo National Hospital Director Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that 3 teams of doctors took part in the operation and to provide other necessary treatment to Chaturanga at the ICU.

The pilot Squadron Leader J.M.W.N. Abeywardana, co-pilot Flight Lieutenant A.A.D.T. Amaratunga, Air force Engineer Sergeant Priyantha and Corporal Wijerathna died in the accident.

3 hour operation on the airman who survived in the plane crash at Hokandara.

A 3 hour operation was performed on Airman L.A.C. Chaturanga who survived in the AN-32 plane crash at Hokandara this morning.

Colombo National Hospital Director Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that 3 teams of doctors took part in the operation and to provide other necessary treatment to Chaturanga at the ICU.

Airman Chaturanga who received critical injuries in the accident that occurred at 6.20 this morning was rushed to Sri Jayewardene hospital and transferred to Colombo National hospital later.

The pilot Squadron Leader J.M.W.N. Abeywardana, co-pilot Flight Lieutenant A.A.D.T. Amaratunga, Air force Engineer Sergeant Priyantha and Corporal Wijerathna died in the accident.

Addressing a media conference in Colombo, Air force Chief of Staff Air vice Marshal Gagan Bulathsinhala said that an investigation team has been appointed to probe the accident.

He also requested the residents not to take away parts of the ill-fated aircraft that has been scattered in the area as investigations are still continuing.

The only airman to survive the Hokandara air force plane clash underwent a 3 hour surgery at the Colombo National hospital.

4 killed in plane crash in Athurugiriya - Hokandara.

An airplane has crashed in a bare land near the Katherine Park housing complex in Hokandara this dawn.

Sri Lanka Air Force stated that they had lost contact with a AN-32 aeroplane which was flying from Katunayaka to Rathmalana.

At least 4 killed and some were injured. 3 houses also damaged.
