Russian specialists arrive to assist in investigations in to plane crash in Hokandara
Sri Lanka Air Force announced today that a team of Russian specialists will arrive in the island to assist in the investigations in to the AN- 32 aircraft which crashed in Hokandara.
Previously the Air Force stated that a decision will be taken to send the black box of the crashed AN- 32 , after receiving the report of the investigation board.
The plane which crashed had undergone a complete maintenance check in Russia 9 months back.
An investigation board was appointed according to the instructions of Air force commander, headed by Air Commodore Ravi Jayasingha.
A 3 hour operation was performed on Airman L.A.C. Chaturanga who survived crash and is still in the ICU of the Colombo National Hospital.
The pilot Squadron Leader J.M.W.N. Abeywardana, co-pilot Flight Lieutenant A.A.D.T. Amaratunga, Air force Engineer Sergeant Priyantha and Corporal Wijerathna died in the crash.
