The Election Secretariat says that close upon 85 thousand postal applications submitted for presidential election has been rejected.

626 thousand 715 applications had been received for marking the vote by post at the presidential election.

Accordingly a senior Election Secretariat spokesman told our news team further that 541 thousand 831 recognised postal polling cards would be handed over to mail today.

Marking of postal votes for the presidential election will take place on the 23rd and 24th of this month.

The Election Secretariat said that public servants who could not mark their postal vote on these two days could do so by visiting the district secretariats.
