Police have commenced investigations regarding an incident where 3 suspects who were arrested following their involvement in setting ablaze the stage of Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena in Waduraba, were taken forcibly while under police custody.
Accusations are levelled against Deputy Minister Nishantha Muthuhettigama.
Police media spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that investigations are carried out.
Baddegama Magistrate ordered to remand the 3 suspects until the 29th of this month.
The deputy Minister had stated that he too would also get remanded if the 3 suspects are imprisoned.
The Magistrate ordered to hand over a report to consider whether Deputy Minister’s statement had insulted the courts.
