The disaster Management centre states that due to adverse weather 600 thousand persons are distressed in 14 districts.

80 thousand 762 persons belonging to 22 thousand 667 families are sheltered in 333 relief centres.

Meanwhile 10 villagers in Mathale are inundated as a result of Aban River overflowing.

Sluice gates of Kothmale reservoir were opened due to incessant showers and the DMC stated that there is a possibility of water levels increasing in Mahaweli river.
