Sri Lanka's exports to Pakistan can be more diversified
A Pakistani official said that Sri Lanka can increase its exports to Pakistan through diversification and investment in power generation and this will be one such area to explore.
First Secretary, High Commission of Pakistan in Sri Lanka Hazan Ali Zaigam, says that while, Pakistan is also looking at Sri Lankan firms for investments in the sugar, cement and pharmaceutical sectors, blended tea is another good traditional product that can be looked at.
Sri Lanka’s Statistics Department data shows total trade volume between Pakistan and Sri Lanka stands 461 million US dollars in 2012, an increase of 130 percent over the 2005 figure of 200 million US dollars.
