CPC assures it won’t obtain oil from the Iranian tanker anchored in international waters near Sri lanka
The Petroleum Corporation stated that it would not import crude oil from Iran for any reason whatsoever as the US has imposed an embargo.
Corporation Secretary Suren Batagoda told our news team, referring to the reports stating that an Iranian Tanker is anchored in the international waters near Sri Lanka.
It is reported that the tanker - F. Wales, sailing under Liberian flag is carrying one million barrels of crude oil.
Certain Media reports stated that the US embassy in Colombo has also initiated an investigation on this oil tanker.
However, Petroleum Corporation Secretary Suren Batagoda said that this tanker of crude oil was not ordered by Sri Lanka.
He further said that if any oil supplier obtains crude oil from this tanker and resell to the Petroleum Corporation by any chance, the Corporation would take action to blacklist such companies.
