Decisive meeting on estate worker's wage crisis today
A decisive meeting is held between Labor Minister S.B. Navinna, estate trade unions and Planters Association over the current go slow trade union action by estate workers.
Planters Association President of Cultivation Sector Sunil Poliyadda told our news team before the meeting, his organization expects to propose a new wage formula for estate workers.
The go slow, launched by estate workers, demanding 1000 rupees daily wage is completing 9 days today.
Estate workers told our news team that they have enduring economic difficulties due to the trade union action.
Meanwhile Planters Association stated that they suffer a daily loss of 120 million rupees, and several tea factories have already been closed due to trade union action.
