EU Ambassador David Daly said that Sri Lanka is on track to get GSP+ benefits perhaps in a matter of months.
The comment was made at a discussion between visiting European Union officials with Sri Lankan Officials.
Commenting further on the matter, Ambassador Daley has noted the progress on compliance has to be shown with international covenants.
EU Delegation delighted by the progression made in the country, said discussions between the government and delegation were positive and the environment would have been very difficult to imagine a year ago.
The European Union is Sri Lanka's top trading partner, absorbing 36% of its exports.
EU withdrew GSP+ benefits to Sri Lanka with effect from 15 August 2010 during Rajapaksha regime.
