Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) raids on local shops and restaurants has increased this year compared to 2015, an official said.
In January this year CAA made 1639 raids, while during the same month in 2015 the number was 153.
Meanwhile, the CAA imposed fines amounting to nearly Rs. 10 million against offenders.
These offenders were found guilty for the sale of food products not suitable for human consumption, failure to display food prices and not issuing warrantees for electrict appliances.
