ADB to lend $2.97 bn to Lanka for 2016-18

The Asian Development Bank will allocate 2.97 billion dollars as lending for Sri Lanka for the 2016-2018 period.

The highest allocation of 19% is for energy sector followed by education.

Tadateru Hayashi, ADB Senior Country Economist speaking at the launching of 'Development Effectiveness Brief' said that one of the main aims of this lending is to allow Sri Lanka to avoid the middle-income trap.

The focus areas in the transport sector includes the key arterial national road links, improvement of provincial and rural roads and improved road connectivity in most of the conflict- affected areas.
