Sri Lanka's Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake is scheduled to leave the island for the United States today to participate in the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
The 2016 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group will be held from April 12 -17 in Washington, DC.
At the meetings the Minister will be accompanied by the Governor of Central Bank Arjuna Mahendran and Treasury Secretary Dr. R.H.S. Samaratunga.
The Spring Meetings of the two global lenders will be attended by finance ministers and governors of central banks of around 187 member countries of the IMF and the World Bank.
According to the Minister this conference will be of special significance for Sri Lanka as the island nation is negotiating to obtain a loan facility from the IMF. The Sri Lankan team led by Minister Karunanayake will hold discussions with the IMF officials during the visit.
