Norway has officially invited Sri Lanka to participate and conduct a discussion on fish exports in an internationally acclaimed fisheries exhibition planned to be held in August in the city of Trondheim.
The invitation was made by the Norwegian Ambassador Thorbojorn Gaustadsaether during a discussion held last week with Fisheries minister Mahinda Amaraweera at the Ministry.
Government of Norway assists Sri Lankan fisheries technically and financially in multiple ways. Surveying fisheries resources within EEZ of Sri Lanka and conducting census on fisheries products, developing aquaculture activities, earning foreign exchange and opening new employment opportunities are being carried out under the assistance of Norwegian government.
Minister Amaraweera extended his gratitude towards the Norwegian government for their enduring support in the context of lifting the EU fish ban against and developing Sri Lankan fisheries.
