Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Harsha De Silva says that Sri Lanka is now requesting their foreign embassies to change their stance from promoting politics to focus on economic promotions.

Speaking yesterday, he said the Foreign Ministry wants the foreign embassies to be more productive and to be more ‘profitable’ to Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka currently has 67 overseas missions and at the last budget a mammoth sum of 9 billion rupees was allocated to maintain them.
