Turnover and volumes decline at CSE


Trading at the Colombo Stock Exchange ended on a mixed note today (13), with low retail participation.

The All Share Price Index moved up by 10.74 points to close the day at 6,632.30 while S&P SL20 shed by 2.22 to 3,915.42.

Turnover was Rs. 688.5 million while 30.5 million shares were traded.

A low foreign participation led to a marginal net foreign outflow from the market.  

Performance review:

The benchmark index experienced a continued volatile upward trend gaining 103 points during the week fueled by the improved investors' confidence.
Overall the volume and turnover improved while bringing in net foreign inflow to the market.


First Capital Research said that it expects the investors to continue to be bullish on banking and finance sector with strong valuations of the key counters, next week.

Strong buying interest to improve in blue chip counters which are stagnated over past week.

Plantation sector earning is likely to improve with the robust tea prices. Further local and foreign buying interest activity to be strong in the market.
