The Sri Lankan government reached a memorandum of understanding with the Omani State Fuel Company with regard to obtaining fuel required by the country.
The government intends to obtain refinery oil necessary for the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery and refined fuel products from the State of Qatar.
This memorandum of understanding has been signed as a foundation with this regard.
A group of representatives of Sri Lanka is scheduled to leave for Oman in the future to take future steps in relation to it.
This memorandum of understanding has been signed as a result of the recent discussions which were held between the Minister of Petroleum Industries Susil Premajayantha and Omani government heads.
Sri Lanka had to turn to alternative countries to obtain fuel required by the country following the sanctions which were imposed by the U.S against Iran.
