Reports indicate that Sri Lanka is planning a 600 million dollar high-speed rail link to Colombo from the main international airport with a Malaysian led firm coming in as a promoter.
A feasibility study is currently underway.
The service plans to charge 500 rupees from locals and 50 dollars from foreigners the report said.
The track has been planned to be laid partly along a new expressway being built to the airport.
Sky bridges or underwater tunnels would link the terminal to the main railway station in Colombo Fort and a bus terminal.
