Sri Lanka inflation declines in August

Sri Lanka's inflation as measured by consumer prices in Colombo eased in August from its 42-month high in July.

According to Figures released by the Statistics Department of the Central Bank the inflation as measured by year-on-year percent change decreased to 9.5 percent in August 2012 from 9.8 percent in July 2012.

Inflation, as measured by the Colombo Consumers' Price Index increased to 6.3 per cent in August 2012, on an annual average basis, from 6.0 per cent in the previous month.
