The official tea production data for May has come out from major producing nations – India, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Malawi.
Sri Lanka gained marginally 0.9 million kg at 33.6 million kg while Malawi also gained 0.90 million kg at 4.70 million kg.
Kenya’s production of 195.09 million kg marks a whopping increase of 67.11 million kg. This increase itself is so large that it is higher than the cumulative production recorded so far this year in each producing country other than Sri Lanka and India.
Sri Lanka’s production at 147.08 million kg posts an increase of 11.09 million kg.
