Cooperative and Internal Trade Ministry stated that a final decision has not yet been taken to increase the prices of powdered milk.

Deputy Minister Hemal Gunesekera said that the matter should be discussed with the President before announcing a final decision.

Five milk trading companies have asked the Consumer Affairs Authority permission to increase prices of powdered milk claiming that the world market prices have gone up.

They wanted 100 rupees increase for 400 grams packet of powdered milk and 250 rupees increase for 1 kilogram of powdered milk.
