The Central Bank says that Sri Lanka’s economy recorded 7.8 percent of gross domestic product growth in the second quarter 2014 compared to the 7.6 percent reported in the first quarter of this year which led by performance in the industry sector, while the agriculture and the services sectors accompanied.

The low inflation environment continued as inflation remained benign in August this year with 3.5 percent year on year head line inflation and 3.9 percent core inflation.

The bank says the positive impact of the recent reduction in administered prices for energy and fuel is expected to be reflected in price levels from October.
