What happens when beauty meet talent is an Oscar, and this is exactly what transpired at the 88th Academy Awards, when Swedish actress Alicia Amanda Vikander won the award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Gerda Wegener in The Danish Girl.
The 27-year-old beat Kate Winslet (Steve Jobs), Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight), Rooney Mara (Carol), and Rachel McAdams (Spotlight).
Clad in a yellow dress, that looked more like Belle’s in the Beauty and the Beast, Alicia thanked her parents during her acceptance speech.
'Thank you so much to the Academy for this recognition. And Eddie - where are you? - There you are! Thank you for being the best acting partner. You raised my game!’ she said calling out to Eddie Redmayne.
She added, 'And my mum and dad - thank you for giving me the belief that anything can happen. Even though I would never have believed this!'
