The Northern Provincial Council passed a resolution today insisting that an international investigation should be held on alleged war crimes of Sri Lanka.

Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran presented the resolution and member M.K. Sivajilingam seconded it.

However, EPDP leader Douglas Devananda stated earlier that he would assist a domestic investigation to be held with the support of the United States.

At the same time, TULF leader Ananda Sangaree said a domestic mechanism, if proposed, should be transparent and everybody should be given access to it.
