The Plantation Owners Association has agreed to the decision by the government to increase the daily wage of estate workers up to Rs770.

This decision has been taken after a recent discussion the plantation owners, the planters and estate workers unions had with Labour and Trade Union Coordination Minister W.D.J. Seneviratne.

Minister Seneviratne said that the new wage increase would also be implemented according to the collective agreement between plantation owners and estate worker unions as in the past.

Meanwhile addressing a media conference held in Colombo this morning, convener of the federation of tea small industrialists Lal Premanath said that the government should find solutions to the grievances of the industrialists.
