President Maithripala Sirisena will arrive in France today to participate in the United Nations Climate Change Summit.

 

This is after concluding his visit to Malta during which he participated in the Commonwealth sessions.

 

The UN Climate Change Summit is scheduled to commence tomorrow with the participation of nearly 80 State Leaders.

 

President Sirisena also participated in the Commonwealth Climate Change summit which was held as part of the sessions in Malta.

 

Meanwhile, President Maithripala Sirisena met with French President François Hollande on the sidelines of the Commonwealth leader’s summit.

 

President Sirisena stated that Sri Lanka will continue to assist France to stand strong against terrorism.

 

Meanwhile, President Maithripala Sirisena also met with British Prime Minister David Cameron, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudo.

 

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka also joined as a founding member of a new 1 billion US Dollar Commonwealth Green Finance Facility to support environmental projects within the 53-nation bloc as the race against climate change intensifies.
