Pakistani National Arrested at Karachi Airport for Attempting to Smuggle 3.4 kilos of Heroine to Sri Lanka

The customs officers at Karachi airport have arrested a Pakistani national who attempted to smuggle in 3.4 kilos of heroine to Sri Lanka.

Customs official Feroz Alam said the passenger denied having any contraband items, however, once his baggage was examined, the heroine was discovered concealed in corrugated paper with polythene at the bottom of two cartons.

The Sri lankan Police Narcotic Bureau has seized 131 kilograms of heroin smuggled into the country over the last four months. 

The value of the apprehended heroin adds up to approximately 786 million rupees.

Recently, 17 suspects including three Sri Lankans as well as 14 Pakistani and Iranian nationals were arrested in the Southern seas with 110 kilograms of heroin in their possession. 

The contraband was being shipped from Pakistan by an Iranian vessel.
