Hospital nursing staff and bus drivers from Chilaw have taken trade union action in protest of local police this morning.

Nurses have launched trade union action against the police arresting a nurse without a complaint following a clash with a fellow nurse

However it is reported that the function of the hospital has been disrupted due to the strike.

Meanwhile Private bus drivers plying between Colombo and Chilaw have launched a strike early this morning.

Our correspondents stated that office workers and school children commuting to Colombo from Chilaw, Puttalam and Aanamadua have been inconvenienced due to that strike.

Chilaw road passenger transport association director Marlon Hetti Arachchi said the strike was launched after a police assault.
