The forest fire that erupted in Balangoda – Heethagala and Hagala mountain reserves yesterday is still continuing.

Police stated that the fire has destroyed a sizeable part of the Hagala mountain reserve.

The police further stated that the fire is spreading due to strong winds and dry weather conditions.

Deputy Director of the Disaster Management Center Pradeep Kodipili stated that the DMC and the police are engaged in dousing the fire.
