Wife of an army officer received injuries following a shooting incident which occurred at Isurupura, in Malabe, Kaduwela last night.

Police stated that, at the time of the incident the injured 43 year old woman was at their residence with her daughter and two sons.

The husband of the victim is serving as a Colonel of Army Gajaba regiment.

The woman is currently receiving treatment at the Colombo National hospital.

Hospital sources revealed that she has underwent a minor surgery and her condition is not critical.

Two individuals who arrived in a motor cycle opened fire and fled the scene last night.

Athurugiriya police have launched an investigation into the incident and it has been reported that the woman is separated from her husband.
