President Maithripala Sirisena said that he advised the IGP to collaborate with university administration and take action to stop ragging.

Addressing the75th anniversary of Ananda Sastralaya in Mathugama, President Sirisena said that the government has a responsibility over the future of university students.

He stressed that barbaric and jungle laws cannot be allowed inside universities.

The President said he personally enquired the Peradeniya ragging incident from the Kandy SSP.
